“It’s like Wolford on acid,” Mark Fast said last night at Milk Studios, where he was presenting his new diffusion line, Faster. This was Fast’s first NYFW event, taking place just about a week before his main collection runway show in London. While Faster has been around for a few seasons now, the designer’s reason for showing in New York this time was his new capsule shoe collection with Aldo (the brand also sponsored the presentation), which featured the same perforated styles you find in his clothes. Models dressed in Fast’s fine-gauge knit dresses, bodysuits, and separates in a variety of electric shades-orange sherbet, sea foam, persimmon, and ultraviolet-looked alien-esque (”a new hybrid of women,” he called them) while posing android-style on a turntable platform. Faster has the same DNA as the designer’s namesake collection, which takes an innovative, couture approach to sweater dressing. With fringe, perforated holes, cutouts, and cobweb mesh, Fast’s body-con looks (touted as “luxury basics”) aren’t for everyone, but look killer onstage, as seen on a pre-pregnant Beyoncé at this summer’s Glastonbury music festival. Faster is slightly more accessible price-wise, but made for the same girl who wants to make a bold sweater statement.

Description: Low Heel (0 to 1.5 in.)

For more information, visit the Aldo Web site.

This season, go urban-chic with these tall boots featuring rounded toe, pull-on silhouette and wraparound strap with eyelet and stud detail. Also with suede upper and flat heel for added comfort.

I love these Aldo “Yuma” boots because they’re priced really well at $140 and they look fierce. They come in taupe — my new buzz color — and black. The shoe also features a cool stud and eyelet bracelet that hugs the boot shaft and it looks like these won’t discriminate on a wider calf. Sometimes I find that these high boots are lovely as all get out, but I can’t fit them over my calf!

    Black and taupe

    Sizes 5-11

    PRODUCT DETAILS

These boots would be perfect to wear with a cute denim mini and also with Fall’s hottest item: leggings.

You know, I don’t always like to wear high heeled shoes and boots. I’ve been trained since I was a junior fashion editor to wear the highest of high footwear, but every once in a while, I prefer something that can actually get me around town a lot faster that also provides a lot of fashion kick.

PHOTOS: Celebs step out in fall’s hottest denim hues

I have been hemming and hawing over a pair of slightly flared jeans so I can jump on what is most definitely my favorite era of fashion history: the 1970s. I love that airy bohemian time period when we had movies like Superfly, donned fox boas over leather coats with wide-brimmed hats, and listened to Stevie Nicks and Ziggy Stardust.

Surprisingly, Munn’s hip huggers won’t cost you an arm and a leg: you can score the Flare Leg Stella Regular Fit Jean in Deep Rinse at EXPRESS for a budget-friendly $69.90!

The low-rise style and cotton/polyester/spandex mix will flatter your hips and lengthen your legs. Now that’s express at your service!

From red skinnies to boyfriend jeans, celebs are embracing some of fall’s hottest denim trends. And Olivia Munn is one star who loves stepping out in another hot style for this season: flares.

If you’re out and about in New York City, you may already have spotted Alexander Wang’s new T campaign stars. Guerrilla-style posters featuring rockers Santigold and Spankrock have already begun papering the city. The duo follows Ashley Smith and Diplo as the new faces of T for Fall ‘11, shot by Dan Jackson and styled by Alastair McKimm. They also appear in Wang’s new campaign video, a remix of Santigold’s single “Go” by Switch, Diplo’s partner in Major Lazer, debuting exclusively below.

Why Santi and Spank? “Their endless talent, incomparable energy, and most of all, down-to-earth personality make them the perfect representation for T,” Wang told Style.com. All of those qualities are on display in the behind-the-scenes video the label created surrounding the campaign, which arrives today at AlexanderWang.com. That’s not all that you’ll find on the site. The Fall ‘11 T collection hits the designer’s e-commerce boutique today as well.

“I started the season being inspired by a couple of Beardsley illustrations,” Doo-Ri Chung says of her Spring 2012 collection. “Using that as a starting point, I did some sketches that became the foundation for the prints, and throughout the development of Spring, the idea of illustration really played a part in not only the prints but how I chose the fabrics.”

Her collection will make its official debut tomorrow afternoon at Eyebeam, but Style.com got a sneak preview of the designer’s sketching process. In the video (above), she is sketching the first look she ever created for her Spring collection. “I was thinking of a single piece of fabric that was anchored by the belt,” she tells Style.com. “I wanted to create a soft yet tailored look by adding the pleats to the draping.”

    2. Do not make all the trends of the season happen at one time. You could end up looking like Christmas in July.

This Starburst Sequin A-Line skirt has a clearance price of $124.90! Considering Naeem Khan pieces usually cost thousands of dollars, this is a steal.

After a fun-filled New York Fashion Week, one thing is for sure: Sequins will still be hot, hot, hot for spring 2010 and will still be going super-strong into the fall.

    1. Do not overload with more sequins. No jackets, tanks, camisoles or caridgans with extra bling. Big earrings and statement jewelry pieces won’t really work. Remember, this is your jewelry.

    Buy it here.

(Khan has a loyal customer fan base that includes the glorious Michelle Obama and everyone from Elizabeth Hurley to Taylor Swift to Beyonce.)

    3. Blinging “it” bags should not be worn with this skirt. Aside from looking like a train wreck, the bag might attach to the skirt and you’ll have the sequins fall out.

Not to be a total downer, here are a few rules to wearing sequins:

    4. You can wear this to work only if your employer is okay with a more casual, fashion-forward dress code.

    PHOTOS: Taylor’s Style Evolution

I love the look of this skirt, which is a mix of sequins in either black or in a mix of gold and silver. It’s a bit more relaxed than most sequined skirts. But what’s truly amazing is that it can be worn during the day — with a white shirt or a plain T-shirt and a blazer. Think of it as built-in jewelry: The key is to mix it with something truly basic and classic. There’s your sparkle.

It’s no longer a holiday staple, but most importantly, it’s becoming a neutral and a basic. This skirt is from Naeem Khan, who — luckily for us! — designs a lower-priced line for HSN called Timeless by Naeem Khan, is a prime example.

Richards gave it the daytime treatment with nude sandals and Bailon added an evening clutch! Mostly, I love the PRICE! $168! You can also carry this into fall, as hot pink is the big seller. Add black opaque or sexy sheer tights, black gladiator heels and a blazer and you’ve definitely got it all going without breaking the bank. Purchase Info: Buy it here.

Sometimes you need the perfect 24/7 summer dress that works for all occasions: weddings, cocktails, date night, brunch, tea parties, bachelorette parties and everything else. I think we found it! And it’s a celebrity HIT. With its sweetheart neckline, oversized waist bow and mini-dress fit, this figure flattering silhouette is perfect. Denise Richards and Adrienne Bailon both wore this French Connection Flash cotton dress!

“Women have been such a strong influence in my life,” BLK DNM designer Johan Lindeberg tells Style.com. “I can almost divide my life in chapters, based on the women I’ve been close to.”

The newest chapter (and woman) comes to life on screen in the seven-minute Film 2, which Lindeberg debuted at a private screening party at his Soho store last night. (The films, along with other creative projects like his BLK DNM Gazette, are part of the designer’s efforts to build BLK DNM as a lifestyle brand. Film 1, in case you missed it, was inspired by his break-up from a long marriage.) In the Martin de Thurah-directed Film 2, Raina Hamner portrays Lindeberg’s latest lady obsession—strong, independent women (who traipse around town outfitted in BLK DNM leather jackets and jeans, of course). “During the last year I got very influenced, almost obsessed, by a young woman,” Lindeberg says. “She became my inspiration and my muse and I had her always in my mind when I created the BLK DNM women’s product.”

As for what’s to come in Film 3, Lindeberg says he’s focused on “the process of finding your true expression—I have been working very hard to go deep in my intuition for many years and I think I finally found it.”

Swarovski, the veritable patron saint of young fashion designers and labels, contributes every season to key shows, offering financial support, truckloads of its crystals, or both to its collaborators—who happen to be some of the best and brightest on the international calendar. This year, Rodarte and Mary Katrantzou were two of the beneficiaries of its largesse. Both the Mulleavy sisters’ Days of Heaven-inspired show and Katrantzou’s Fabergé egg fantasia made prominent use of the glittering crystals, as they discuss in these two behind-the-scenes videos, debuting exclusively on Style.com. And to judge by the front-row reaction also caught on tape, sparkle becomes them. The Rodarte video is above; click at left for Katrantzou’s.
